Fort Vredeburg In Yogyakarta

News Session - Benteng Vredeburg is a historical relic which is right in front of the Great House which had become the Presidential palace RI, when Yogya Djakarta become the country's capital in 1946. Behind this fortress there is also a monument to recall the atmosphere of the heroic struggle of our nation when freedom is won Monument General Offensive 1 March.

Vredeburg is a fortress which was founded by the Dutch colonial government to secure. At that time, who led the colonial government was a governor of the Dutch East Indies and residing in a building that is currently Governorate we are familiar with the Great House. The function of this fort defense still can we see now, where there is a cannon that is directed right into the sultan's palace. If only the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, with hundreds of his soldiers wanted to give them resistance or revolt against colonial rule, then they are ready to attack the palace with that cannon. In 1949, the colonial government fears it really happened, because when our country that the guerrillas had gathered in the palace, but the cannon was not able to silence our heroes are.

The fort stood closely related Vredeburg predictably birth Yogyakarta Sultanate. Giyanti Agreement February 13, 1755 which successfully completed the feud between Susuhunan Pakubuwono III to Prince Mangkubumi (Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I) is the result of Dutch politics that always wants to interfere in domestic affairs Kings of Java at that time. Dutch man who was instrumental in the birth of Giyanti Agreement is Nicolaas Harting, who served as Governor of the Director of the North Coast of Java (Gouveurneur en Directuer van Java's noordkust) since March 1754. In essence the agreement is a manifestation of the attempt to divide the kingdom of Mataram into two parts, namely Kasuhunan Sultanate of Surakarta and Yogyakarta.

Fortress colonial relic which has now turned into a museum. This building is one form of political real-sheep contest conducted by the Netherlands at the time, which is split between Susuhunan Pakubuwono III to Prince Mangkubumi (lane I later). So do not be surprised if this building was standing not far from the palace in the lane next to selatanya. Because it is one of the strategies undertaken by the Dutch at that time to monitor the activities of the palace. The fort is old enough age because it was built in 1760. And certainly this building has a design classic and typical European type there.

This classic shape is what makes the castle look beautiful, do not be surprised if this place is pretty much used as a pre-Weding photo. But the beauty of this building not only physically, in some buildings there is space deorama which shows a number of history that occurred in Yogyakarta as the struggle of Prince Diponogoro complete with statues and setting the place, even if you have a hundred ancient coins that are large but thin, you can listen to audio that explains about diorama complete with patriotic songs, so it is pretty good if you want to learn history.

This is because the other old buildings and some room diorama less sunlight illuminated the room, the room automatically becomes moist and slightly musty. Maybe for some to create the impression of horror. But still musieum is quite interesting, besides the form of the fort that is still intact, there is the barracks of soldiers, runag-room office, prison, place of guns. Perhaps most important is the entry ticket which sanagt tilt only 1500 only. So it never hurts to try to visit this museum.
